We’re still on a high from an incredible weekend of racing at Endure24 Reading in Wasing Park.
While all of us at Threshold do everything we can to set the stage and make your weekend as special as possible, it’s the runners, walkers and in the later hours, the determined hobblers who truly make Endure24 what it is. A celebration of endurance, grit, and the unmistakable magic of community, lifted even higher by a brilliant fancy dress outfit (or perhaps a sprinkle of fairy dust, if you were lucky enough to spot the fairies on Saturday night).
Now we’re back at our desks, reliving the magic of the weekend, we’ve rounded up the results to give a special shout-out to the top three in each category.
SOLOS
A true test of individual endurance, our solo spots are growing in popularity each year, with 680 runners taking on the full 24 hours alone this weekend. From the start, it was an exciting race with some incredible achievements along the way.
Women’s Race
Kate Bennett not only took home the title of Women’s winner, but won the entire race after an incredible 23 hours and 22 minutes. In this time she clocked an impressive 25 laps, equating to 200km and over 2000m of elevation. Kate ran her first (and fastest) lap in 00:45:44, keeping things conservative against the other solo women she was up against. She stayed remarkably consistent, with only nine laps taking over an hour, and none longer than 01:05:12. Strong from the start, she moved into 1st place by her 3rd lap and pulled away from lap 10 to build her lead.
Second place Katie Broomfield also ran a strong race, jumping from 55th place to 12th by the second lap before holding a top-10 position for 10 laps. After a slower spell overnight, she came back with a vengeance in the morning, moving from 14th to 2nd and finishing strong with 21 laps / 168km. Third place, Rai Gresley, delivered an outstanding finish despite not hitting the top 10 until her final six laps. Proof that patience pays off at Endure24. Rai finished with 20 laps / 160km in 23:36.
- Kate Bennett – 25 laps – 23:22
- Katie Broomfield – 21 laps – 23:26

Men’s Race
In the men’s race, returning 2025 champion Dean Lenihan went out fast, banking his first lap in 36:21 and taking an early lead, which he held for 8 laps (64km). He was the favourite to win again in 2026 but stopped after 17 hours, having reached 100 miles.
First place male Pete Scull had a more conservative start yet he quickly hit the top 10 on Saturday afternoon. As nightfall came around and the midnight hours passed Pete slowed and fell back to 39th position. As night fell he dropped back to 39th, but staged an incredible comeback cutting 15 minutes off his lap pace and jumping from 29th to 2nd in just two laps. From there he pushed on, taking 1st place by lap 22 and holding it through to the finish, completing 200km in 24:31.
Second and third were closely contested as the two Andys worked through the night. Andrew Pettit ran a steady race, staying mostly within the top 20 before jumping into 2nd on lap 19, briefly taking the lead on Sunday morning. Third-place Andy Cittern-Jones went out fast to hit the top 10 early, dropped back overnight, then surged again with daylight to secure his podium spot.
- Pete Scull – 25 laps – 24:31
- Andrew Pettit – 24 laps – 23:51
- Andy Cittern-Jones – 22 laps – 24:07

LARGE TEAMS
A real mix of fun and competition comes across in these teams, racing in a Large Team allows runners the most time for recovery, resulting in some ridiculously fast laps throughout the 24 hours of the race. Alternatively, it gives you a great excuse to dress up in fancy dress and dance your way through.
Female Large Teams
‘Cara’s pace invaders’ had a plan and they executed it perfectly, whiteboards in hand they took the lead from the start and stayed there for almost the entirety of the race, managing 32 laps, 3 clear of second place. A real testament to the power of good planning and good teamwork. Second and third place were quite spread out in the female large team category – ‘Superb Sisters’ took second place with 29 laps and ‘This Ain’t No School Run!’ managing 27.

XL TEAMS
Historically a less competitive category, in recent years we’ve seen more clubs and crews taking the XL Team category seriously, with some impressive results to match. The vast majority of XL Teams are mixed, and so we only award trophies in the overall category.
Mixed XL Teams
‘Team Long Distance Relay-tionship’ took an early lead with a rapid 30-minute opening lap and held on to win with 42 laps / 336km. After a win in 2025, Vale of ‘Aylesbury Athletics Club’ came back to try and hold on to their title, they ran a strong race considering the conditions managed only 1 lap less than last year, not quite enough to stay in the top spot!
