Our Solo places are an increasingly popular option on Endure24. Whether you’re going alone or signing up with a few friends to run together here are a few things you may not know about the solo option:
1) Nobody runs non-stop
Even the strongest solo runners will take time out in the 24 hours to stretch, refuel and have a break from the track. For some, it might be a critical twenty minutes en route to a new course record or for others it could be a few hours of solid sleep back in your tent. It’s your race, you plan it how you want it.
2) Want to run with a friend? You can enter as two solos.
If you have a favourite running buddy, you can both enter as solos. This means you can run together and take your breaks together as opposed to handing over in transition. You will be in the Solos instead of Pairs category, but you will have your pal with you on the track and back in camp to help each other through the hard bits.
3) Solo runners camp nearest the course
Due to the extra fatigue of solo runners, we allocate a section of camping for them right next to the course. You don’t have to stay there if you have a big team base elsewhere on site, but it’s an option for those who want to save their steps for the route.
4) You can start and finish at any time within the 24 hours
The first and last laps of Endure24 have an amazing atmosphere. However, a good number of solo runners choose to start and finish at different times. This can be to avoid the faster first laps, to help with sleep planning or just because they only plan to run for a shorter number of hours. It’s completely up to you.
5) There is an exclusive free T-shirt if you crack 100 miles
The Endure24 100 mile high club is a truly hallowed group of men and women. To recognise them, we award unique technical tops to those who complete the distance each year. It’s a special moment.
